About Therapy

Therapy asks the question: What is the story you keep telling yourself about your life and your relationships?

You may know exactly what the problem is but feel uncertain about how to address it, or you may have a vague, nagging feeling that something is not right in your life. Therapy can help clarify areas of concern and bring current understanding of the brain, body, and social relationships to shed light on those concerns.

Perhaps you are coming up against the same struggle over and over again but you feel unable to respond in a new way that might bring about a different outcome. Therapy is a place to learn and practice new skills.

You may have experienced a loss or transition and found your existing support system inadequate for the task, or feel overcome by anger and sadness without a clear path forward. Therapy is a place to be accepted and supported exactly as you are, and to find your way, with a skillful guide, to the other side of painful emotion.

Perhaps you have lost the vitality and joy you used to experience in your relationships, family life, work, or play time, and would like to create more space for joy and meaning. Therapy is a place to identify and clarify your core values.

You may feel perpetually on the fringes of your own life or plagued by feelings of envy, unworthiness, shame, or self-doubt. Therapy is a place to work through feelings and beliefs of unworthiness and learn the transformative practice of self-compassion.

Perhaps you feel ready to resolve some longstanding issues with your family-of-origin. Therapy is a place to make sense of painful childhood experiences, rework your attachment style, and choose life-affirming core beliefs.
